Jammu, May 7: After opening of the Civil Secretariat in state's summer capital Srinagar on Monday, the Cabinet is all set to meet on May 11 to take a final call on the regularisation of the daily wagers. Sources privy to the development told that post induction of the new ministers in the state cabinet and opening of offices in Srinagar, the cabinet is all set to meet in the afternoon of May 11 and will be chaired by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. The cabinet, as per government sources, will announce the removal of pay anomalies in the cadre of clerks, a demand due to which the offices were locked down for more than 15 days across the state. Furthermore, the cabinet will also take final call on the regularisation of more than 60 thousand daily wagers in the state. Earlier, it was informed that apart from giving an approved roadmap, the cabinet will also consider whether the daily wagers would be regularized in a phased manner or in one go. There were reports coming to fore earlier that the daily wagers and other adhoc employees would get regularized in a phased manner, with land donors being given preference. Furthermore, the ITI-trained adhoc workers will be followed after the land donors and then will come the rest in the list. It was also informed that the issuance of the formal orders will be issued within a period of 20-25 days; however, the cabinet will accord the sanction for the same on May 11. According to sources, all the cabinet ministers of the coalition government have been asked to attend the meeting. There are reports that the Finance department has already omitted out the irregularities in the final list and further the scrutiny is ongoing. Earlier, the number of the daily rated workers engaged mainly in PHE, Irrigation, Flood Control and R&B was estimated to be 60 thousand. After the alleged tempering of the records done by some senior officials of these departments, the number of the daily rated workers has spiked to 96 thousand. Witnessing such a high end corruption, the government had to put the regularisation of the daily-rated employees on hold due to which the deserving ones were left in lurch. It was informed that the Finance Minister had earlier called an emergency meeting in the Secretariat wherein the officials were slammed over creating chaos in the entire process. Quoting the minister, sources privy to the development divulged that it looks like that the palms of the officials were greased enmasse that had led to the addition of 30 thousand persons in the list of the daily-rated employees.
